Where am I and how did I get here?
To answer your first question, you are on the home page of the blog of one, Derrik Filippo. As to how you got here, that is a slightly more difficult question as there are a number of ways that you could have arrived in this location. You could have been given the link by a friend or colleague, or perhaps it was provided to you as a unique member of the original Newsletter distribution list; a more likely alternative is that you simply did a web search for words like “hilarious” or “outrageously funny.”
I tend to write to an audience of people that I know fairly well and as a result those who are are unfamiliar with my personality may view much of my writing as arrogant or brash, but as most people will tell you I don’t hold as nearly high of an opinion of myself as often comes across. I am simply a follower of Christ who desires to be obedient in His command to love others, one of the ways I try to do this is by writing humor. I am also a husband of nine years and, a father of one; soon to be a second… that is how you measure fatherhood, right? The age of all your children combined?
I currently work for a Fortune 500 company constructing new power plants, my primary focus is now Solar, though in my previous role I was responsible for Wind and Thermal (gas-fired) plants as well. My old job took me all over the country and to new countries as well. In the past 6 years I have lived and worked in 3 countries and more than 14 different states (in the US). My wife and I both love the travel, in large part because of all the new things we have gotten to experience and the new people we have been able to meet. In September of 2014 I took a new role with the same company as a project manager. The new job will allow us to settle down in New York and that is a terrifying thought, I’m going to own a home that doesn’t have wheels.
I am also an ice cream aficionado and sole creator of the Filippo Rating Scale for Soft Serve Ice Cream Cones, or FRSSSICC (pronounced “frisik”) for short.
